Receipting and Canadian organizations
Canadian organizations on GoFundMe Pro must use Braintree as their payment processor.
GoFundMe Pro issues CRA-compliant receipts (in PDF format) for all donations made to campaigns. PDF receipts will include all the necessary information in a read-only format and will automatically include a sequential serial number that is auto-generated within GoFundMe Pro.
You can change the organization name, address, and signature that appears from your organization settings. You can also change the tax deductibility language from within a campaign
Donation receipt storage
GoFundMe Pro does not store copies of each receipt. However, GoFundMe Pro will automatically email a copy of each receipt to account admins who receive transaction notifications. Once received, admins can download and store receipts securely as needed.
Resending receipts
You can resend receipts to donors or yourself from the Transactions page in your account. Donors can also resend themselves receipts from their Supporter Page.
When you resend a donation receipt, the same serial number will display on the duplicate receipt. A new serial number is not generated.
How currency displays
All donations will display and process in CAD unless your organization changes the setting using Passport. To process in CAD on GoFundMe Pro, your organization must use Braintree as your merchant gateway.
If your organization needs to process currencies outside of CAD, contact our Sales team.
What confirmation emails and PDF receipts look like
When a supporter submits a donation, they’ll get a confirmation email. The email states their donation amount in CAD.
The PDF receipt will display your organization's information, including your Charity Registration number. It will also display the processed donation amount in CAD and a CRA statement. You can change your organization name, address, and signature, as well as the tax deductibility information from your GoFundMe Pro account.
