Nonprofit Pages on GoFundMe

Before you start

If a nonprofit page doesn’t appear in GoFundMe's directory, go to GoFundMe’s Help Center and select Contact us to start the process to get a page added.

Nonprofit Pages help expand your donor base by letting supporters donate to your organization, start a fundraiser, or share your nonprofit with their communities on GoFundMe.

Once you claim your page, you can edit the details, access donor and fundraiser information, and choose to make your page searchable.

Claim your page

Important: These directions to claim your page are for GoFundMe Pro customers. If you are not a GoFundMe Pro customer, find out how to claim your nonprofit on GoFundMe.

If you’ve already claimed your page in GoFundMe, you can skip this section.

Claiming your Nonprofit Page lets you access all of the data from GoFundMe directly in your GoFundMe Pro account.

You can claim the page in your GoFundMe Pro account by selecting Review account in the banner at the top of the home page.

Note: The person who claims your page within GoFundMe Pro will become the main admin of your Nonprofit Page. This person replaces any admin connected previously and will be the only user able to log in to GoFundMe and change the settings for your page.

Or you can claim your page or check its status any time by going to Settings > Account. Under GoFundMe Nonprofit Page, check the status of your page or select Connect page to start the claim process.

The data in these reports automatically refreshes from GoFundMe every 1 hour. For more information on the fields available in each report, check out our guides on the Donations report and Fundraisers report.

Additional reporting

Before you start: Sign up for GoFundMe Pay to get access to these reporting options and peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns.

GoFundMe Pro customers who use GoFundMe Pay have access to additional reporting. Donations made to your page in GoFundMe will appear in the Transaction History report, and the funds will be included in your regular payout reports from Stripe. You don't need to take any extra steps if you already use GoFundMe Pay. Additionally, all fundraising pages associated with your Nonprofit Page will show up in the Fundraising Pages report in your GoFundMe Pro account.

Important: Donations made to fundraising pages created before you signed up with GoFundMe Pay will continue to be processed by PayPal Giving Fund and appear in the Donations report on the GoFundMe Channel page, along with all historical donations.

All donations from GoFundMe will create a transaction in GoFundMe Pro with the campaign name GoFundMe Donations. Recurring donations made on GoFundMe will also create a transaction record, but will show as a one-time donation.

Additional fields can be found in the Transactions History report:

  • Channel Integrations: A value of GoFundMe indicates the donation came from GoFundMe
  • GoFundMe Source:
    • Direct indicates the donation was made directly to your Nonprofit Page
    • Fundraiser indicates a donation was made to a fundraiser created on behalf of your organization

Tip: For help with adding columns and applying filters, check out our article on creating a report.

Report template

If you'd rather use one of our report templates, the GoFundMe Transactions report uses the columns listed above to show your donors coming from GoFundMe. You can find this report in your GoFundMe Pro account by going to General Reports and then selecting Recommended Reports.

Edit your page

If you've claimed your page, you can edit the following information by selecting GoFundMe Channel in your GoFundMe Pro account:

  • Name: Select from alias names sourced from Candid (Guidestar) and PayPal Giving Fund (PPGF) data. This ensures platform integrity and prevents fraudulent actions. You can change the display name completely in PayPal Giving Fund and it will sync back to your GoFundMe Channel.
  • Mission Statement: Add or update up to 800 characters.
  • Logo: Upload a logo that appears on your Nonprofit Page and activity feeds.
  • Causes: Choose to show or hide causes by selecting from categories defined by GoFundMe.
  • Location: Update address details or hide your location entirely.
  • Fundraiser cover images: Provide images for your supporters to use when creating a fundraiser on behalf of your organization.
  • Links: Add, edit, or remove links, including your website, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, Candid, and Charity Navigator.
  • Settings: Control the visibility of your page and whether fundraisers can be created on behalf of your nonprofit.

Note: Your organization's established date, tax ID, and NTEE code are gathered from the IRS and cannot be edited.

Edit fundraiser cover images

When a supporter creates a GoFundMe fundraiser on behalf of your nonprofit, you can choose which cover images are available for them to select. AI-generated images are provided to you by default, but you can also edit this section to upload your own or turn off the default images.

Tip: For the best results, make sure your uploaded images are at least 720 x 405 pixels, and no larger than 20MB.

If you want to hide an individual image or report an AI-generated image, edit the section and select the three vertical dots on that image.Image of menu to hide or report a cover image

Discoverability and fundraising

Edit your page's settings to control visibility on GoFundMe and how supporters find your page. Within the GoFundMe Channel page in your GoFundMe Pro account, you have options to control how and where your page appears:

  • Allow page to appear publicly on GoFundMe: Controls whether your page is public on GoFundMe
  • Show my nonprofit to users whose activity suggests they may be interested: When turned on, GoFundMe can feature your nonprofit in official communications to supporters

Note: Turning off these settings will keep your page private and hidden.

Supporter fundraising

On your page, fundraisers have the option to create pages and raise money on behalf of your organization on GoFundMe. Their fundraising page will show the name of your organization, and you can view all active fundraisers on your page. If you've claimed your page, you will receive email notifications when fundraisers are started for your organization.

Tip: Encourage your supporters to create fundraisers to celebrate an important moment or milestone in their lives. With pre-built templates available, your supporters can quickly start more fundraisers and raise more money for your cause.

If you need to remove your organization from a fundraiser that was created from your page, contact our Care team.

Payouts

Donations made to your Nonprofit Page will be sent in different ways, depending on how they were made. If you use GoFundMe Pay, you will receive donations directly and can customize payout schedules and reports directly in your GoFundMe Pro account. A transaction fee will be charged by GoFundMe as outlined on our pricing and fees page.

PayPal Giving Fund

If you don’t use GoFundMe Pay, GoFundMe partners with PayPal Giving Fund (a 501(c)(3) charitable organization) to securely send funds raised from your Nonprofit Page. After the deduction of payment processing fees, PayPal Giving Fund delivers the funds to your charity every month. Payment processing fees include PayPal’s transaction fee and GoFundMe’s processing cost for the secure transfer of funds. PayPal Giving Fund does not charge a fee for its services.

Charities are encouraged to enroll with PayPal Giving Fund to receive their funds. If your charity is enrolled with PayPal Giving Fund, you will receive funds in your PayPal account at the end of each month. Money donated through the 15th of the month is sent that same month. Any donations received after the 15th will be paid out the following month. After the funds are in your PayPal account, you can use the funds in PayPal, transfer the money to a bank account, or have a check mailed to you.

If you don’t enroll in PayPal Giving Fund, the funds will be sent to you via check after a verification process. This can take three to five months after your first donation date on GoFundMe, and a check will be sent to the address listed in public records.

If, after reasonable efforts, PayPal Giving Fund cannot deliver donations to your charity, your donors will be able to choose a different charity to receive the funds collected as per PayPal Giving Fund’s policies.

GoFundMe Giving Funds

Donations made through Giving Funds are made via the GoFundMe Giving Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that manages Donor Advised Fund (DAF) contributions. You will receive a notification when a donation is made with a summary of the details.

Depending on the organization, regular disbursements will be received by check via mail or directly to their bank account via ACH. Data on Giving Funds donations is available in the Donations report in the GoFundMe Channel within your GoFundMe Pro account. At this time, Giving Funds donations will not be in the Transaction History or Payout reports.

DAFpay & DAFpay Network

DAFpay is a payment facilitator for Donor Advised Fund (DAF) donations made to nonprofits online. Charities that receive donations through DAFpay Network are notified and invited to enroll to receive their funds. If your organization is not registered with Chariot, DAFpay Network may appear as the beneficiary organization in the supporter’s DAF portal. DAFpay Network is a U.S. 501(c)(3) public charity that partners with DAFpay to process gifts on behalf of charities that are not yet enrolled with Chariot.

DAFpay Network will make reasonable efforts to deliver donations to the intended charity. If, after reasonable efforts, DAFpay Network is unable to deliver the funds to your organization, the supporter can be notified to redistribute the donation to another organization in accordance with DAFpay Network’s policies.

Important: DAFpay is not available for organizations that use GoFundMe Pay.

Frequently asked questions

Where did you get my nonprofit's information from?

GoFundMe created Nonprofit Pages using publicly available IRS data and additional information from trusted nonprofit partners. This allows individuals across GoFundMe’s 200 million-strong community to easily discover and donate to nonprofit organizations, helping them support causes and charitable missions they care about, even if the organization hasn’t actively created a GoFundMe campaign.

Is a Nonprofit Page free?

Yes. Nonprofit pages, and the management of those pages, are free. Transaction fees apply only when donations are received. Donors are also invited to leave a voluntary tip, which helps support GoFundMe’s trust and safety efforts.

What are the fees associated with the donations my nonprofit receives on GoFundMe?

There is no platform fee charged for donations made to your Nonprofit Page. Each donation made via GoFundMe will incur a transaction fee of 2.2% + $0.30.

The transaction fees for donations from your GoFundMe Pro campaigns will not be applied to the donations raised on your Nonprofit Page. The fees charged for any transaction will always be available in your Transactions History report.

Can donors cover the transaction fees for donations made to Nonprofit Pages?

No, donations made on GoFundMe will not be able to leverage any configured settings for Donor Covered Fees available within GoFundMe Pro.

Is tipping allowed on Nonprofit Pages?

Optional tipping is only available on Nonprofit Pages once consent has been given by the organization through the claim process. These completely voluntary contributions make it possible for us to provide trusted fundraising tools, customer support, and a dedicated global Trust & Safety team that protects our community.

Am I able to issue refunds for donations made on GoFundMe?

No, a donation made on GoFundMe may only be refunded subject to GoFundMe’s Terms of Service and GoFundMe’s refund policy. To process a refund for your donors, you must submit a request to the GoFundMe support team.

What does the receipt look like for donations made to my Nonprofit Page?

When a donation is made to your Nonprofit Page, donors will receive a confirmation email from GoFundMe and a tax-deductible receipt from GoFundMe Pro. The tax-deductible receipt contains your organization's branding and logo, but is not customizable at this time.

If you have not claimed your Nonprofit Page, your donors will receive their tax-deductible receipt from PayPal Giving Fund, which will not include your branding.

Am I able to resend receipts for donations made to my Nonprofit Page from my GoFundMe Pro account?

Yes, if you use GoFundMe Pay, you can resend receipts for any donations made on GoFundMe to your organization. This will only resend the official tax receipt email sent by your organization. It will not resend the GoFundMe confirmation email to the donor acknowledging their donation.

How can I view donations made from Giving Funds?

Giving Funds donations are available by exporting the Donations report in the GoFundMe Channel within your GoFundMe Pro account. At this time, Giving Funds donations will not be in the Transaction History or Payout reports.

Will any GoFundMe data sync to Salesforce?

If you use the GoFundMe Pro Salesforce integration with NPSP, donations from GoFundMe will sync as Opportunities. You can use two fields on the Opportunity record to distinguish these types of donations:

  • Campaign Name = GoFundMe Donations
  • Channel Integration = GoFundMe

Right now, donations do not sync to our Salesforce NPC integration.

If I use the Omatic integration, will data from my Nonprofit Page sync?

At this time, donations made to your Nonprofit Page will appear in GoFundMe Pro, but will not sync to Omatic.

Can supporters share our page?

Yes, supporters can easily start fundraisers on GoFundMe on behalf of your nonprofit or share your nonprofit page with their communities.

How do I find out about new releases, such as these pages being created?

The best way to learn about new capabilities is to sign up for our emails and view the GoFundMe Pro release notes. In addition, we host regular webinars and provide support documentation with the latest features, including early access programs.
