Roles and permissions

Roles are sets of permissions that grant someone a defined level of access to your GoFundMe Pro account. You can assign roles when you invite a team member and edit their roles to ensure they have access to the features they need.

Organization wide roles

Organization administrator

Full access to the account. Organization admins can also invite team members to the account and edit their permission levels. This master role is great for employees who need access to everything.

Fundraising administrator

Access to almost everything in the account, including the reporting tools within campaigns. Fundraising administrators cannot access Account Settings, Apps & Integrations, or the Payment Processor. This role is great for team members who are involved in all fundraising activities, but not the administration of your account.

Activity feed manager

View Supporter activity and post replies on the Home tab activity feed.

Campaign creator

Create campaigns and edit their details and design. Campaign creators can also duplicate campaigns, but cannot publish, unpublish, or delete them. They cannot edit campaign emails.

Campaign designer

Edit the design of existing campaigns. Campaign designers cannot create, publish, unpublish, or delete campaigns. They cannot edit campaign emails.

Campaign publisher

Publish, unpublish, edit, or delete campaigns. Campaign publishers cannot create campaigns or edit campaign emails.

Email manager

Access and control the email management section of all campaigns in your account.

Supporter manager

Access and edit all supporter details including transactions, fundraising pages, fundraising teams, and recurring donations. The team member cannot issue refunds.

Refund manager

Issue refunds for transactions. Refund managers can view but cannot edit other transaction details.

Data exporter

Share or export reports on GoFundMe Pro. This role needs to be paired with the Viewer role or the Supporter manager role because these roles allow you to view data in your account.

Viewer

This team member can view all supporter details and create reports. Viewers cannot edit any supporter details or share reports.

Settings manager

Access and edit organization settings like your billing information and the contact info that displays to supporters. This permission also has access to Apps & Integrations.

Note: A settings manager cannot set up domain masking. This task requires an organization administrator.

Payment processing manager

Access and edit your organization's payment processor settings.

Payouts manager

Access to the Payouts option in the GoFundMe Pro menu. Team members with this role can download payout reports and view your payout history. Note: this role is only available to GoFundMe Pay customers.

Integrations manager

Access to the Apps & Integrations menu. This role lets team members access and set up the GoFundMe API, partner apps, and our integrations.

Template manager

Create, edit, and delete campaign templates, and share templates with connected accounts. This role can also access everything that a campaign creator and email manager can.

Campaign specific roles

Campaign administrator

Full access to the specified campaign(s). Campaign admins can also invite team members to the campaign(s), edit their permission levels, and access reporting within the campaign(s).

Tip: Pair this role with Data exporter to be able to share and export reports. Campaign admins with Data exporter permissions will only be able to share and export reports for campaigns they have access to.

Supporter manager

This team member can access and edit a supporter’s details through the following menu pages: Transaction History, Campaigns, Fundraising Pages, and Fundraising Teams.

Viewer

This team member can view but cannot edit supporter and transaction details for specific campaigns.

Frequently asked questions

I was an existing customer before the new Roles & Permissions were released. Will I have to change anything for my pre-existing admins?

No, you do not have to make any changes. All existing admins were assigned the new roles that give them the same level of access as before. But you can always fine-tune your admins’ permissions if you like using the Administration tab.

We use GoFundMe Pay as our payment solution. What role do I need to assign an admin to give them access to the Payouts tab?

Admins will need the Organization administrator role to access the Payouts tab in your account menu. That said, all admins can be subscribed to Payout Notifications, which allows them to download daily Payout Reports directly through email.

When I duplicate a campaign, do the campaign-level admins and their roles carry over to the duplicate?

Yes, and you can easily manage or adjust admins at the campaign level

Why can’t I remove roles from the Fundraising administrator role?

Assigning the Fundraising administrator role is an easy way to ensure a team member has access to all fundraising-related features but not your account’s technical settings (example: your organization account info or your payment processor settings).

To assign more granular roles, turn the toggle for the Fundraising administrator role off and choose the specific roles you'd like to assign.
