Payouts

Before you start

Payout reports are only available for GoFundMe Pay customers. If your organization uses another payment solution, you can find your reports on their website.

Payouts are how your GoFundMe Pro transactions are deposited into your bank account. You can choose the frequency of your Stripe Payouts when setting up your payment processor or adjust the frequency at any time by visiting your GoFundMe Pay settings.

Note: PayPal payouts, including both PayPal and Venmo transactions, are sent separately from Stripe payouts. These will appear on a daily basis, and the frequency cannot be customized at this time.

Edit your payout frequency

You can receive GoFundMe Pay payouts daily, weekly, or monthly. Your choice will affect your payout schedule.

To change your payout frequency:

  1. In your GoFundMe Pro account, select Settings
  2. Select Payment Processor Portal
  3. Next to GoFundMe Pay, select Edit
  4. Next to Payout Schedule, choose your preferred frequency and save

Daily payout schedule

When you choose a daily payout schedule, you can expect payouts and deposits two business days after the day of transaction. Business days follow Universal Coordinated Time (UTC) and have a daily cutoff at midnight UTC.

Daily payout and deposit table

Day of transaction Day payout is available in GoFundMe Pro
Monday Wednesday
Tuesday Thursday
Wednesday Friday
Thursday Monday
Friday Tuesday
Saturday and Sunday Wednesday

Deposits usually show in your account within a few hours after the payout is available. However, ACH, PayPal, and Venmo transactions can take up to five business days.

Deposits happen on a rolling basis which means you’ll have deposits from transactions on Monday, Saturday, and Sunday in your bank account on the same Tuesdays. You can expect this after your first week on GoFundMe Pay.

Weekly payout schedule

If you choose weekly payouts, you’ll receive payouts once a week. You can choose the day of the week you’d like to receive your payouts.

Monthly payout schedule

If you choose monthly payouts, you can expect payouts once a month. You can also choose the day of the month on which you’d like to receive your payout. Note that payouts may arrive earlier for shorter months. For example, if you schedule payouts on the 31st of each month, they will arrive on the 28th of February.

Create a payout report

Payout reports provide details about the transactions included in a payout. You can download payout reports as CSV files and use them to close your books.

Account-level admins are notified when payouts are ready by default. You can toggle this notification on or off for each of your admins.

You can also request a payout report to your email address by visiting Payouts.

Tip: Create a custom payout report in Transaction History. With a custom report, you can:

  • Add or remove columns
  • Combine Stripe and PayPal transactions
  • Export reports longer than 31 days

For help getting started, visit the Resource Center in GoFundMe Pro. Select Help in the top toolbar, choose Track success, and select Create a payout-style report under Build custom payout reports.

To request and download a payout report:

  1. In your GoFundMe Pro account, select Transactions and Payouts
  2. Use the form to request a payout report

Form for requesting a classy pay payout report

Payout reports can cover up to 31 days’ worth of transactions. Once you request the report, we’ll email you a download link. The link expires in 48 hours, but you can request reports again anytime.

Under the Payouts Reports form, you’ll find a list of daily payouts. Select Request under the Reports column to download one of them.

Note: The Payouts page is only available to Organization Administrators or Payout Managers. If you can’t find Payouts in your menu, review your account permissions.

Reconcile / Close your books

Your payout report contains the key transaction information needed to reconcile (such as your gross transaction amount, the net amount you receive, and the campaigns that received donations).

Important: Stripe and PayPal use different time zones to determine when a transaction is created in their systems, which may impact your payout reports. Stripe uses Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) as its cutoff, while PayPal uses US and Canadian Pacific Time (PT).

Read your payout report

Payout reports are sent to your email as CSV files. You can open these files using spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.

To learn more about the columns and their definitions, visit Fields and Columns Defined.

Note: Your report may look a little different in Google Sheets.

Google Sheets has a few auto-correction features that may affect your report. However, display differences should not affect your reconciliation processes.

  • Your Organization ID may appear as a date.
  • There is a chance that the last four digits of a credit card or bank account will not be four digits. This happens when a card has zeros before a whole number. Google automatically deletes zeros until it detects a whole number.

Example: ‘0001’ may appear as ‘1'

‘0010’ may appear as ‘10’

Troubleshooting Paypal Payouts

  • Large Refunds: If there’s a large refund, payouts won’t be created until your balance is back to $0. If the balance isn’t cleared within 30 days, we’ll cover the refund to reset your balance. Once your balance is recouped and you receive a new donation, payouts will resume. In your payout report, you’ll see a line labeled Recoup transaction from bank or loss accounts in the Payment Description column.

  • Bank Account Removed: If your bank account is removed from PayPal (for example, if it can’t be found or is frozen), contact the Care Team for help.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to go to Stripe to reconcile?

No, you’ll have all you need to reconcile once you download a payout report.

Why is there a negative payout in my account?

Negative payouts appear if you issue refunds exceeding the dollar donation amount in your GoFundMe Pay account. This will cause the account to have a negative balance. If this occurs, GoFundMe Pro will debit your connected bank account to recoup the negative balance and bring your account into good standing.

If a direct debit fails, your payment processor may be disabled, and you will not receive further payouts until the issue is resolved.

To prevent this, ensure your bank account allows debits from GoFundMe Pay. To allow Stripe to debit and/or deposit into your bank account, the ID numbers you should provide are:

  • WFMSTRIPE1 - Stripe Inc.
  • 1800948598 - Stripe Payments Company

For any questions about account debits or to restart your account, contact our Care team.

What about banking holidays?

GoFundMe Pay treats banking holidays like weekends. If your payout falls on a banking holiday, the payout report will be available on the next business day. The deposit will follow the day after.

If your deposit date falls on a banking holiday, you can expect the deposit on the next business day
