Let donors dedicate their donations

When supporters make a donation using your donation page, they can dedicate it to someone. If they choose to dedicate their donation, they can also send a notification to the honoree or a family member/friend of the honoree. You can choose whether to allow dedications and adjust the notifications a supporter can send.

Edit Your Dedications settings

From your dedications settings, you can adjust whether to allow dedications and choose how dedication contacts are notified.

To adjust your dedication settings:

  1. Go to your campaign
  2. Select Settings
  3. Select Dedications

  • Turn on dedications
  • Postal notification: Turning on this setting allows supporters to provide the mailing address for the recipient of a dedication. GoFundMe Pro cannot send postal notifications for you—you are responsible for mailing the notification to the address provided. You can find dedication mailing addresses by creating a Custom Report and filtering for the information.
  • Dedication emails: Turning on this setting automatically sends a notification email to the dedication contact a supporter provides. The email explains that a donation was made on their behalf and won’t include the amount.
  • eCards: Turning on eCards allows you to upload images that will appear in dedication emails. You can upload up to 4 images that supporters can choose from when making a dedication and donation. The image they choose will be sent in the dedication email.
    • For best results, upload 600px by 400px images. Also, it must be a PNG, JPG, or GIF file type and less than 2 MB. 

Notification email

When someone dedicates a donation, a notification is sent to the honoree's email address (the supporter enters this information). You can also customize the appearance of the email in Email Studio.

You can trigger the email again if one of your supporters asks. In your GoFundMe Pro account, select Transactions and Transaction History to search for the transaction record that includes the dedication. Under the dedication information, select Email dedication to send the email again.

Frequently asked questions

Will dedications and eCards be sent every time a recurring donation occurs?

No, dedications and eCards will only be sent for the initial donation when a supporter sets up a recurring giving plan.
