Intro to Email Studio

Email Studio is the one-stop solution for writing, managing, and delivering emails for your campaign. This versatile tool elevates the communication experience, enhancing your interaction with donors and supporters while ensuring your messages reflect your brand.

To access Email Studio, select the Emails tab in Campaign Studio.

Note: Email Studio is only available for Campaign Studio campaigns. Learn more about Campaign Studio.

From the Emails tab, you’ll find a list of default campaign emails. Each email has the status (on/off), the type, and the click rate for that message.

Default campaign emails include:

  • Campaign admin invite: This email is sent when you add another administrator to the campaign. The default explains that they have been added as an admin and can login to access the campaign.
  • Chargeback: This email is sent to a supporter when a chargeback is issued for their donation. The default message explains what the supporter was charged for and offers encouragement to withdraw the chargeback. It also offers steps on how to get a faster refund if they want the money returned.
  • Recurring donation failed: This email is sent to a supporter when their recurring donation fails. The default message explains that the failed payment may be due to an expired credit card or a changed card number. It also offers encouragement to update the payment information so the supporter can continue giving to your cause.
  • Recurring plan created: This email is sent to supporters when they create a monthly recurring donation. The email includes a thank you message and a note that their recurring plan is active. It also reminds them of how much they signed up to give and what day their donation will be processed.
  • Donation receipt: This email is sent to a supporter after they make either a one-time or recurring donation. It contains a thank you message and a downloadable PDF receipt.
  • Recurring donation plan card expiring: This email is sent to supporters 15 days before the credit card attached to their recurring plan is set to expire. Use this message to prevent lapses in recurring donations due to failed transactions.
  • Ecard: When a donation is made in someone's honor, supporters can choose to send this e-card to the dedication recipient. The supporter can write a personal message to the recipient when they make the donation; otherwise, a default message will state that a donation was made in the recipient's honor.

Select an email’s title to open the builder and edit the message. Select the toggle to turn on/off specific messages and select a message’s Click Rate to view additional metrics.

Select an email’s title to go to the drag-and-drop builder for that message. Within the builder, you’ll find similar tools available in the Page's designer:

  • Drag-and-drop sections, headings, paragraphs, and buttons
  • Customize the logo and style of your header
  • Add, remove, and position custom widgets

The Email builder differs from the designer in a couple of important ways:

  • A single, 1-section blank layout
  • A selection of limited, email-safe fonts
  • Email-specific widgets such as Login button and Manage Donation

Insert merge tags

You can add merge tags to your emails which dynamically populate data, such as recipient name, transaction amount, etc. This helps to personalize emails for your supporters.

Available merge tags include:

  • Organization name
  • Campaign name
  • Campaign email
  • Campaign phone
  • Supporter first name
  • Supporter last name
  • Supporter address
  • Supporter city
  • Supporter state
  • Supporter country
  • Supporter postal code
  • Supporter email
  • Donation amount
  • Donation frequency

Show or hide Contact details

To show or hide Contact details in an email’s footer:

  1. From the Emails menu, select the email you want to edit
  2. Select the email’s footer
  3. In the editor, turn on or off the Show support contacts toggle
