Complete setup in GoFundMe Pro

Once you have your API Login ID and Transaction Key, you’ll need to connect GoFundMe Pro and Authorize.net.

  1. In your GoFundMe Pro menu, select Settings
  2. Select Payment Processor Portal
  3. Select Authorize.net
  4. Enter your API Login ID and Transaction Key into the form

Note: If you need help, contact our Care Team to assist with completing the setup. To keep your transaction info secure, please create a secure message with Saltify.io that includes your API Login ID and Transaction Key. Then send the generated secure link to the Care Team.

Next steps

After the setup is complete, we recommend disabling a few of the fraud filters in your Authorize.net account. These filters may disrupt GoFundMe Pro's donation processing. Disabling them will not make your account less secure and ensures your donations will process smoothly.

Edit Authorize.net fraud filters

Authorize has additional fraud protection tools that you can use on top of GoFundMe Pro's security measures. But, there are a couple of settings that may negatively interact with GoFundMe Pro's donation processing. For that reason, we recommend disabling a few fraud filters in Authorize.

Disabling the filters will not make your account less secure. GoFundMe Pro's top priority is protecting your organization, supporters, and data. We use industry-proven measures to provide a safe and trusted fundraising platform so you can focus on your mission. Learn more on our Security Page.

Velocity filter

We do not recommend enabling the Velocity filters unless you know what your expected velocity is for the full year. Often, velocity filter thresholds are set too low. This can lead to false positives and lead to a loss of legitimate donations.

  1. Sign in to your Authorize.net account
  2. Select Tools
  3. In the menu, select Fraud Detection Suite

  1. Navigate to the Card Testing Settings section
  2. Select Daily Velocity Filter

  1. Unmark the Enable Filter checkbox
  2. Select Save

Note: You may have to enter a transaction velocity threshold in order to disable and save. Once you disable the filter, the threshold will not apply so you can use any number you like.

  1. Repeat the process above for the other velocity filters under Card Testing Settings

Address verification service (AVS)

In GoFundMe Pro Events, you don't always have to require billing addresses for paid transactions. If you plan to use this feature, we recommend disabling AVS since AVS requires billing addresses.

  1. In your Authorize.net account select Tools
  2. In the menu, select Fraud Detection Suite
  3. Navigate to the Transaction Settings section
  4. Select the Enhanced AVS Handling Filter

  1. Unmark the Enable Filter checkbox
  2. Select Save

Card verification value (CVV)

GoFundMe Pro typically doesn’t recommend requiring CVV. We don’t send CVV for recurring transactions after the first payment, so requiring CVV will cause recurring donations to fail.

  1. In your Authorize.net account, select Tools
  2. In the menu, select Fraud Detection Suite
  3. Navigate to the Transaction Settings section
  4. Select Enhanced CVV Handling Filter

  2. Select Save

Reviewing transactions

We recommend reviewing the Fraud Detection Suite in Authorize.Net every 72 hours as a best practice. This will help you see if any of the other fraud filters blocked a transaction or if any of the filters above were accidentally turned on again. You can then adjust your filter settings accordingly.

To review your transactions, sign in to your Authorize.Net account, select Tools, and the Fraud Detection Suite from the menu. If any transactions were blocked you’ll see a number under the *Triggered columns.

If a number appears, select it and then the Trans ID to approve or reject the transaction.

What does GoFundMe Pro do to protect our organization from fraud?

GoFundMe Pro uses industry-proven measures to keep your organization and supporters safe.

We also offer ReCAPTCHA. This is a fraud prevention tool that we can turn on by request. ReCAPTCHA uses a learning algorithm, which means it constantly improves at protecting you from spam, bots, or other fraudulent activity. To top it all off, GoFundMe Pro adds its own logic to make it even more effective.

Set up an Authorize.net webhook

If you use Authorize.net, you can enable a webhook. The webhook ensures that GoFundMe Pro transaction statuses update whenever you change transactions in Authorize.net (Ex. refunds, voids, and more). Note that webhook notifications do not apply to transactions that donors dispute (chargebacks).

To enable the webhook, you need to send GoFundMe Pro your Signature Key.

Send GoFundMe Pro your signature key

  1. Log in to your Authorize.net account
  2. Select the Account tab
  3. Under Security Settings, select API Credentials and Keys
