Send upgrade links to increase recurring gifts
Before you start
Gift upgrade links are generated only for donors with an active recurring gift.
Send your donors gift upgrade links for an easy way to increase their recurring support. Each link is personalized with a suggested amount based on the donor's recurring giving history, and donors can securely increase their gift in just a few steps. This guide covers how to find your upgrade links, how to send them to donors, and what donors experience when they use their links.
Gather links from the recommended report
Your gift upgrade links are available in the Recurring Increase Opportunities recommended report in your GoFundMe Pro account. To find this report in your account, select General Reports, then Recommend Reports.
The report lists all donors with a current recurring plan eligible for an upgrade, along with their personalized upgrade link. Select the Export report to .CSV option at the top of the page to download all of the links, or copy an individual link.
Tip: The report includes a unique upgrade link for each eligible donor. Select Save to My Reports to check back regularly, since new donors can qualify for a link over time, and previously upgraded donors will be removed for 6 months after the last upgrade.
Send links to donors
Once you've downloaded the report, you’ll need to import the list into your CMS or marketing software so you can email the links to your donors. Each link is unique to that donor and can't be shared or transferred to another supporter.
Feel free to use the following template when emailing your donors.
Note: Use the template as a starting point, making sure to personalize the bracketed sections before you send.

FAQs
Can I send these upgrade links through GoFundMe Pro?
Not yet. Right now, you send these emails yourself. Later in 2026, we're planning to change that. Our roadmap includes automated emails that Pro sends directly to donors, inviting them to increase their gift. These emails work alongside your own outreach, giving the right donors an easy path to upgrade without adding more to your plate.
When we add upgrade links to those automated emails, we'll apply the same models we use today. And because we will send them, your donors won't need the extra verification step the upgrade links currently require.
Do the upgrade links expire?
Yes, the links will expire after 21 days and within 30 minutes of opening. Make sure not to accidentally use them before sending, or they will not work for your donors.
How many amount options will donors see, and can they choose their own amount?
Donors see three amounts. GoFundMe Intelligence personalizes these based on the donor's giving patterns on GoFundMe.com and GoFundMe Pro. Donors can also skip the suggested amounts and enter their own.
Can I edit the upgrade amounts that donors see?
No, GoFundMe Intelligence sets suggested amounts by analyzing each donor's giving patterns and then asking for the amount most likely to become recurring revenue. That produces better results than showing everyone the same static amount.
How are donors in the Recurring Increase Opportunities report flagged as good candidates to increase their recurring gift?
We analyze giving signals across the entire platform, both GoFundMe.com and GoFundMe Pro, to build a complete picture of each donor's potential. That's how we surface donors who might be ready to give more, even if their history with your organization looks quiet.
Only donors who are good candidates at the time when the report is published will be assigned links. Not every donor is shown in the recurring increase report.
Do donors need to sign in to use their upgrade link, and can they cancel their gift from that page?
No sign-in is required. This page is built for one purpose: increasing a recurring gift. Donors can't cancel their gift on this page, but they can always manage or cancel their gift through the supporter center.
Can I track how many times I've sent a specific donor an upgrade link?
You'll need to track this in your CRM or marketing platform.
Can donors cover fees when they increase their gift?
Yes, most of the time, donors will have the option to cover fees when they increase their gift. When add-on fees are turned on in your campaign settings, amounts from upgrade links don't include an option for donors to cover fees.
Do I need Intelligent Ask Amounts turned on in my campaign to use upgrade links?
No, you don't need Intelligent Ask Amounts turned on to use gift upgrade links. GoFundMe Intelligence sets the suggested amounts on its own.
