Custom field mapping in the Salesforce integration

By default, the Salesforce base (NPSP) integration syncs your GoFundMe Pro data to specific objects and fields in Salesforce. But you can also sync your data to custom fields.

Map to custom fields

To map GoFundMe Pro data to a custom field:

  1. Open Salesforce App Launcher and search for GoFundMe Pro Control Panel V2
  2. Select Custom Field Mapping
    • If this option doesn’t appear, you can turn it on under Settings and Package
  3. Choose your Source Object and Source Field
  4. Choose your Destination Object and Destination Field
  5. Set a priority, starting with 1
    • Multiple source fields can be mapped to a destination field and are prioritized in ascending order (1 is the highest priority). If a source field value is null, the system automatically evaluates the next mapping until a non-null value is found.
  6. Select Create

Important notes

  • Mapping to fields is not retroactive. Only future data will sync to newly mapped fields.
  • The source and destination objects must be the same. The only exception is when you map custom questions, which you can map to Contact, Campaign, or Opportunity objects.
  • The field type on the source field must match the destination field. For example, if the source field is a text field type, your destination field must also be a text field type. Note: Lookup fields are not supported.

Existing mappings

You can view and edit the mappings you create under Existing Mappings. To edit a mapping, select the arrow at the end of the row and select Edit.

Tip: If you need to map a single response to multiple fields or objects that GoFundMe Pro doesn’t support, we recommend using Salesforce’s Flow Builder. If you need help using Flow Builder, contact your Salesforce Administrator, or a Salesforce consultant, as our Care team cannot provide support with customizations.

Troubleshooting and FAQ

Why can’t I find the Custom Field Mapping tab in my GoFundMe Pro Control Panel?

If the option for Custom Field Mapping doesn’t appear in your GoFundMe Pro Control Panel, you’ll need to turn it on. To do so:

  1. Select Settings
  2. Select Package
  3. Toggle the Enabled Custom Field Mapping Tool setting to Active
  4. Select Save

Why is my custom field map not working?

One common cause may be mismatching field types: field types from the Source Field and Destination Field must match. For example, if the source field is a text field type, your destination field must also be a text field type.

How do I map data that synced to Salesforce before I made the field map?

Creating a field map is not retroactive. If you have any data that synced before you created the map, delete the Opportunity record related to the GoFundMe Pro transaction that contained that information and manually resync it.

How do I map custom questions to Salesforce fields?

By default, custom questions and answers map to their objects in related lists. But you can map the answers to any field on the Contact, Campaign, or Opportunity object.
