Email performance data in legacy campaigns

Before you start

This article covers email metrics in our legacy campaign builder. For Studio campaigns, check out our article on Email Studio.

Open the email dashboard

  1. Open the campaign with the emails you want to view
  2. Select the Email tab to open the Email Dashboard

A general performance summary will appear to the right of each email. The summary displays how many times a specific email has been:

  • Sent  -  The number of times the email has been sent to supporters
  • Delivered  -  The number of times the email has arrived in a supporter’s inbox
  • Opened  -  The number of times the email has been opened by a supporter
  • Clicked  -  The number of times supporters have clicked a link in your email

Note: Opened rates will increase each time an email is opened. It is expected that the Opened rate will be higher than the Sent rate.

Choose an email to inspect

To get a closer look at email performance, you need to open the email performance screen. From the screen you can also view how individual recipients interact with your emails.

  1. Locate the email you want to inspect
  2. Select the arrows next to the email
  3. Select view performance

Inspect the email

Select menu options next to the email performance screen to sort recipients according to 4 key data categories.

When you choose an option, the list will display relevant information for that category. This includes the first and last name of recipients, their email address, and the last action (for example, whether they opened the email).

  • Total Sent displays the total number of times the email has been sent. It will also list every recipient the email was sent to.
  • Open Rate displays the percentage of recipients who actually opened your email. If selected, only these recipients will appear.
  • Click Rate displays the percentage of recipients who clicked any links that were included in your email. If selected, only these recipients will appear.
  • Bounce Rate displays the percentage of emails that failed to reach a supporter’s inbox. This may be due to an incorrect email address or a spam filter. Only information about failed emails will appear.

Inspect a recipient

You can select a recipient’s name at any time to view their full history with a particular email. Their most recent activity will appear at the top and the timestamp will correspond to the time zone you used when setting up the campaign. You can also select Resend to resend the email to a recipient.

Note: A "Dropped" status will appear for an email that failed to be delivered to the recipient's email server.
