Create a GoFundMe peer-to-peer campaign

Sign up for GoFundMe Pay to unlock this feature if it's not in your GoFundMe Pro account.

Before you start

Check out our course in GoFundMe Pro Academy to learn how to launch your campaign and set your fundraisers up for success.

Teams are not available in a GoFundMe peer-to-peer campaign. If you’re looking for fundraising teams or more robust reporting, check out our Classic peer-to-peer option.

GoFundMe peer-to-peer campaigns let you manage your campaign on GoFundMe Pro, while your fundraisers create their pages on GoFundMe with features like leaderboards, sharing tools, and coaching emails.

Important: You must have a claimed and verified Nonprofit Page to create a GoFundMe peer-to-peer campaign.

Create a GoFundMe peer-to-peer campaign by going to Campaigns in your GoFundMe Pro account and selecting Create new campaign. Then, select Peer-to-peer and GoFundMe Peer-to-Peer.

You can quickly set up your campaign by filling out the following details (these can always be adjusted later in Settings):

  • Name and fundraising goal
  • Branding
  • Hero image: Please note, logos in images may be cut off when adjusted for mobile views
  • Campaign description and more information for your supporters
  • Fundraiser defaults: Set the title, image, and description that appear on fundraiser pages

Once you’re ready, publish the campaign and share it across your channels to help broaden your reach and increase the visibility of your cause.

Edit your campaign

Editing your GoFundMe peer-to-peer campaign is easy in our intuitive Studio builder. Simply drag and drop prebuilt layouts, elements, and widgets onto your page to customize it in minutes.

For example, add the prebuilt leaderboard layout onto your page to drive competition and engagement with your supporters.

Customize peer-to-peer settings

Select the Settings tab in your campaign to adjust general information like the name, fundraising goal, sharing preferences, and campaign theme. You can also select one default program designation for the donations received by fundraiser pages.

Fundraiser information

These settings give you control over what is displayed on fundraising pages created from your campaign. You can provide a default title, hero image, and story while also giving fundraisers the option to have leaderboards or their fundraising goals automatically adjusted.

Callout note: Fundraisers can change the default content or smart goals setting when they manage their page in GoFundMe.

Story Builder

Story Builder uses AI to generate a personalized title and story, helping fundraisers launch polished pages faster. Turn this setting on to add a campaign mission, and AI combines it with details about your organization and the fundraiser. Fundraisers can also add more context before the page is created to shape their custom story.

Smart goals

When this setting is on, the fundraising goal is automatically adjusted upwards as the fundraiser receives donations. Automated goal setting frees your supporters from administrative tasks and is an effective way to create momentum for their donors.

Leaderboards

Turn this setting on to display a leaderboard of top fundraisers on fundraiser pages, along with leaderboard nudges that encourage more engagement from donors.

Ask custom questions

Find out more about your fundraisers by asking them questions during the signup process. You can use our pre-built options or create your own.

For more information on creating custom questions, check out our guide.

Manage fundraising pages

Note: Fundraising pages created from GoFundMe peer-to-peer campaigns cannot currently be deleted in your GoFundMe Pro account. To delete or report a page, contact GoFundMe support.

While your fundraisers create their pages in GoFundMe, you can track their progress in GoFundMe Pro. To do so, select Fundraising in your GoFundMe Pro account and then Fundraising Pages.

Use the Fundraising Pages report to get a snapshot of the page’s information, like Supporter Name, Gross Transaction Amount, and Transactions Count. Or, select an individual fundraising page record to see the full details, including supporter information and any donations made to that page.

Supporter experience

When a supporter starts a fundraiser on your campaign, they are taken to GoFundMe to create their page. The page is created from the default content and settings you configured in campaign settings, and the fundraiser must claim their page to personalize it. They can also access their GoFundMe dashboard to track donations, thank supporters, and get fundraising suggestions.

Callout note: A fundraiser can still receive donations if they don’t claim their page.

How is this different than the Classic peer-to-peer campaign type?

GoFundMe peer-to-peer campaigns give your supporters access to GoFundMe’s best-in-class fundraising tools to drive more impact on their pages. While our Classic peer-to-peer campaigns can be fully customized, with end-to-end white labeled campaigns, and can include ticketing and fundraising teams.

Yes, you can select one program designation in the campaign settings to act as the default for donations received on fundraiser pages.
