Add Apple Pay to embedded donation forms
You need to verify the domain where you plan to use Apple Pay to add it to your embedded donation forms. This is a security feature made by Apple to ensure that only authorized merchants process payments.
To verify the domain, you'll add the domain association file to your website's file structure.
General instructions
To verify your domain on most website providers:
- Download the domain association file
- On your website, host the file at
/.well-known/apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association
For example, if your website is https://website.org, make that file available at https://website.org/.well-known/apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association.
You should have your website admin create a new folder called .well-known and place the domain association file inside the folder.
We recommend contacting your website administrator or provider if you need help hosting the file on your website.
Apple Pay is only available if set up on Apple devices with Safari 17 or later and at least one valid card is linked.
Finish setup
Contact the Care team to complete the setup and activate Apple Pay on your embedded donation forms.
WordPress
Apple Pay is available on your WordPress site if you've installed and activated our plugin. If you've previously added an embedded form, remove the old install snippet and use our plugin instead to have Apple Pay as an option.
Squarespace
Squarespace sites host the required domain association file by default. But we recommend contacting our Care team so that we can make sure your account has access to Apple Pay.
Frequently asked questions
Why don't I see Apple Pay as an option after I take the steps to verify the domain?
Apple Pay will only appear as an option if it is set up on an Apple device. It is most commonly used with mobile devices and will only show up on a desktop if it has already been set up.
