Zapier integration
Before you start
GoFundMe Pro was previously known as Classy, so you may notice some screenshots contain that name.
GoFundMe Pro's integration with Zapier lets you integrate with 5,000+ web applications and automate workflows.
You can use Zapier to save time by avoiding manual work and opening up new opportunities for integrations without building from scratch using the public API.
You may also benefit from data visibility across your organization, helping to keep staff aligned on how donors interact with them and ensuring everyone on the team communicates effectively with your supporter base.
Activate Zapier in GoFundMe Pro
To use the GoFundMe Pro app in Zapier you first need to activate the integration in GoFundMe Pro. You’ll need Organization administrator permissions to complete this task.
- In GoFundMe Pro, select Apps & Integrations
- Select Zapier
- Select Generate credentials
- Under Integration details, you'll have an organization ID, client ID, and API key.
You'll copy and paste these details into Zapier in a moment, so keep this window open.
Connect GoFundMe Pro to your Zapier account
You need to connect GoFundMe Pro to your Zapier account in one of two ways:

Disconnect the integration
You can remove your GoFundMe Pro credentials to disconnect the Zapier integration or generate new credentials to update the connection in Zapier.
To disconnect the integration or generate new credentials:
- In your GoFundMe Pro account, select Apps & Integrations
- Select Zapier
- Select Disconnect integration.
- To confirm, select Disconnect.
- This will invalidate the previously generated credentials, and any Zaps using the invalidated credentials will not sync GoFundMe Pro data.
- If you do not plan to generate new credentials, we recommend deactivating any Zaps using this connection, as any callouts from Zapier to GoFundMe Pro will fail.
-
Optional: To generate new credentials, follow the steps in Activate Zapier in GoFundMe Pro
- You must update your GoFundMe Pro connection in Zapier with the newly generated credentials to resume syncing GoFundMe Pro data in your Zaps.
Sync data to Zapier
The Zapier integration lets organizations do what you want with the data in the systems of your choice. You define the actions and triggers you want for your Zaps and where your GoFundMe Pro data will go once synced to Zapier.
The integration supports polling for new or updated Transaction, Supporter, and Campaign data. View our API documentation to learn more about all available fields and parameters.
The frequency in which Zapier will poll the API is based on the Zapier subscription you have. For example, Zapier's Starter plan will poll every 2 minutes, whereas Zapier's Enterprise plan polls every minute.
Zapier will automatically deduplicate data sent from GoFundMe Pro based on record ID and timestamp.
In Zapier, you can filter based on the data in the object or sort the data by dates. In addition, organizations can push supporter data back into GoFundMe Pro. For example, if an offline gift is recorded in your organization's CRM, you can configure a Zap to update the existing supporter record in GoFundMe Pro.
Note: You need at least a Zapier Starter plan to use filters.
Sample Zaps
With over 5000+ apps to choose from on the Zapier Marketplace, there are endless possibilities for what you can do to connect your GoFundMe Pro data with other tools you use to manage your mission.
Here are some examples of ways you can automate your processes using the Zapier integration:
| When this happens... (Trigger) | automatically do this (Action) |
|---|---|
| A new Supporter is created in GoFundMe Pro | Find and Add/Update a subscriber in Mailchimp |
| A Supporter is updated in GoFundMe Pro | Add/Update a subscriber in Mailchimp |
| A new recurring transaction is created in GoFundMe Pro | Add/Update a subscriber in Mailchimp |
| A Contact record is updated in Salesforce | Update a Supporter record in GoFundMe Pro |
You can try out these and other sample Zaps in the GoFundMe Pro app on Zapier's Marketplace.
Troubleshooting
Sometimes, zaps fail to fire as they should, or errors occur. Also, there are some limitations to the current integration with Zapier.
Alerts
You may receive alerts or emails from Zapier notifying you of an issue with your GoFundMe Pro Zap (also called a "task"). These alerts come from Zapier and generally include links to the affected Zap and related support articles to address the problem quickly.
Some common alerts include:
- You're almost at your Zapier task limit: This notice is sent when you have reached 80% of your Zapier plan's task limit for the current billing period (yours may be monthly or yearly). If you reach the limit, new runs of any of your tasks will be held until more tasks are available. GoFundMe Pro data will not sync to Zapier if the task is held. To prevent this, you may modify some of your tasks to run less frequently or add more tasks to your Zapier plan.
- You reached your task limit: When you reach your task limit, Zapier will hold new runs of any of your tasks until more tasks are available at the beginning of your next billing period, or you can upgrade your Zapier plan to add more tasks. Otherwise, the data from the held tasks will be available if played within 30 days.
- Tasks are held to be replayed: This may occur if you schedule a large number of tasks in a short period of time, or if you run out of tasks in a given billing period, or if you have a limit for how many runs can occur at once. If the volume is high, Zapier will advise you to check that you intended to send a high volume. You will be able to replay the held tasks from Zapier, either individually or in bulk. You can also increase your run limit to allow more tasks to be run at once.
- One of your Zaps has been paused: Zapier may turn off a Zap (or task) if it errors each time it is run. Zapier will generally include a snippet of the most recent error in the notification. You should troubleshoot the errors directly in Zapier to identify the issue, which may include editing the Zap to ensure it is set up correctly. Once the issues are resolved, you can turn the task back on.
- Possible error on your Zap: This notification may be sent for various errors, including: a failed authentication, the data requested for the trigger does not exist, or the requested action could not be performed. Review the notification from Zapier to see more details on the specific error and next steps to resolve it.
- Zap could not be switched on: This may occur if Zapier encounters issues when running checks on your task's trigger or action, such as an error retrieving information from GoFundMe Pro or the app being unresponsive. You should review the Zap's setup in the Zap Editor, and use the Test option to ensure it can run as expected.
- Please reconnect your account: This may occur if Zapier encounters an authentication problem when trying to run the task. In the Zap editor, you should reconnect the task to the account it requires to run (such as GoFundMe Pro). If any tasks were held, you will be able to replay them when the app can authenticate again.
Read Troubleshoot errors in Zapier for more details from Zapier on how to resolve issues with your Zaps.
Data
If your data doesn’t appear in Zapier as expected, first ensure the task is running, the connection is active, and you did not receive any error notifications from Zapier.
If all this is true, the next step should be to check the settings for your Zap:
- Is the trigger set to run on the correct event? The trigger is the event that happens on GoFundMe Pro, resulting in data syncing to Zapier. Different events will sync different fields.
- Does the event contain the data you are looking for? With an active connection, you can test the Zap from the Zap editor to see a sample of the data that GoFundMe Pro will return.
- Is the action configured correctly? The action determines what should happen downstream as a result of the event, and to which other applications the event data should sync to.
- Are you filtering or searching for specific data when the Zap runs? Remove any filter criteria and re-run the task to confirm that the data is not being filtered out.
- Does the action support consuming that data? Confirm whether the application you selected for the action can use all of the event data, and how it may be mapped in that app. Read Send data between steps by mapping fields to learn how to select and send the data you receive from one app to another.
If the trigger and action have the expected settings and run properly when tested, check to see if the task is being held. If a task is held, the data will not be synced until it is replayed. Read Replay failed Zap runs to learn how to replay a held task.
Note: GoFundMe Pro does not transform data when it is synced to Zapier. The data will be synced in the same format as it exists in GoFundMe Pro.
Limitations
There are some common limitations users encounter with the current integration with Zapier:
- The integration only supports a set of triggers covering the most common actions.
- This does not cover the full range of triggers available in the GoFundMe Pro API. If your use case is not possible with Zapier, we recommend building a custom API integration to sync your data.
- The following actions are not yet available:
- Update Recurring Plan (i.e., change their recurring gift plan amount)
- Update Campaign (i.e., update the campaign goal when it is reached)
- The integration is bi-directional and lets you automatically update only some data in GoFundMe Pro.
- You can update basic details on supporter profiles such as name, email address, gender, and mailing address.
- There is limited information surfaced with each available trigger and action:
- The New Supporter and Updated Supporter triggers do not include the supporter’s total donations or “lifetime value” (LTV).
- We recommend setting up a CRM sync that includes each individual donation and “roll up” the revenue there to calculate LTV.
- The New Campaign and Updated Campaign triggers do not include the total raised to date for the campaign.
- This can be calculated in your CRM if you set up your zaps to push out the name of the campaign with each transaction.
- You can also create a custom object to house each campaign and associate it with the relevant supporters who have given to it and all related transactions, thereby allowing you to track total revenue per campaign along with other important metrics.
- The New Supporter and Updated Supporter triggers do not include the supporter’s total donations or “lifetime value” (LTV).
Frequently asked questions
What type of data can I sync from GoFundMe Pro to Zapier? What type of data can I sync from Zapier to GoFundMe Pro?
The Zapier integration will use GoFundMe Pro's Public API to send available Transaction, Supporter, or Campaign data to Zapier, including any available parameters associated with each object. You can choose to sync data from any of these objects to Zapier.
Also, you can sync updates to an existing Supporter record for the following Supporter fields from Zapier to GoFundMe Pro: Address Line 1, Address Line 2, City, Country, State, Postal Code, Email Address, First Name, Last Name, Gender, Nickname, Phone.
A full list of the available Transaction, Supporter, and Campaign parameters can be found in GoFundMe Pro's API documentation.
Do I need a specific Zapier Plan to use the GoFundMe Pro Integration?
The GoFundMe Pro integration will work with any Zapier plan. However, you need a minimum of a starter plan to use Zapier's filter feature.
Your Zapier plan will also determine how frequently new or updated GoFundMe Pro data can be polled.
What events can I use in GoFundMe Pro as a trigger in Zapier?
GoFundMe Pro's Zapier integration supports polling triggers. With a polling trigger, Zapier will request data from your trigger every 1 to 15 minutes to start your Zap, depending on your Zapier plan.
Available GoFundMe Pro events are New Transaction, Updated Transaction, New Supporter, Updated Supporter, New Campaign, or Updated Campaign.
What actions are available in Zapier for GoFundMe Pro when creating a Zap?
GoFundMe Pro's Zapier integration supports syncing updates from Zapier to an existing GoFundMe Pro Supporter record.
How do I update or remove the integration?
Follow the steps in Manage GoFundMe Pro credentials for Zapier to deactivate the integration on GoFundMe Pro.
To manage or remove an app connection in Zapier, read Manage your app connections. To manage or delete a Zap in Zapier, read Manage your Zaps.
What happens if I deactivate and then reactivate the Zapier integration on GoFundMe Pro without deactivating my GoFundMe Pro Zaps?
When the Zapier integration is deactivated on GoFundMe Pro, the GoFundMe Pro client ID and API key you used to authenticate the connection in Zapier will be invalidated. A new client ID and API key will be generated upon reactivating the integration.
Any Zaps using the previous GoFundMe Pro client ID and API key for the connection should be updated with the new credentials, otherwise, the Zaps will fail.
