Set up Microsoft Dynamics
To set up the integration, you need access to:
- Power Platform Admin Center
- Azure Active Directory (Ability to create an App Registration)
- Fundraising and Engagement Configurations
Also, please make sure your Dynamics environment has the following solutions installed:
- Dynamics 365 Sales
- Fundraising and Engagement
The Nonprofit Accelerator is optional.
Connect Microsoft Dynamics in GoFundMe Pro
- In your GoFundMe Pro account, select Apps & Extensions
- Select Microsoft Dynamics
Note: If this feature is locked in your account, reach out to your GoFundMe Pro account representative.
To complete the integration, you’ll need the following values from your Dynamics account:
- Environment URL (Service Root URL, e.g. https://{{orgid}}.api.crm.dynamics.com)
- Client ID (requires App Registration)
- Tenant ID (requires App Registration)
- Client Secret (requires App Registration)
This article will walk you through how to collect each value. We recommend opening another tab or window to copy and paste these values from Dynamics into GoFundMe Pro.
Find your Microsoft Dynamics environment URL
- Log in to Microsoft Dynamics
- Select the Gear icon and Advanced Settings
- Select Settings dropdown
- Select Customizations
- Select Developer Resources
- Next to Service Root URL, copy the base URL (including https://)
When you set up Microsoft Dynamics, paste this URL into the Environment URL field in GoFundMe Pro.
Create an app registration
To generate a Client ID, Tenant ID, and Client Secret, you need to create an app registration specifically for the GoFundMe Pro integration. To create a new app:
- Log into Microsoft Azure
- Go to the Azure Active Directory
- In the menu, select App registrations
- Select + New registration
- Name your App (we recommend something like, GoFundMe Pro Integration App)
- Under Who can use this application or access this API?, select Accounts in this organizational directory only (Organization.name only - Single tenant)
- Select Create App registration
Note: You can leave the URI field blank.
Once you create the App Registration, a Client ID and Tenant ID will be generated. Copy and paste these into their respective fields in GoFundMe Pro.
Generate a client secret
Next, you need to create a client secret and associate it with the newly created app registration.
- In the App registration, select Certificates & Secrets
- Select + New client secret
- In the panel, name the secret and choose when the secret will expire.
We recommend a timeframe of 12 months or longer to reduce integration maintenance. When your client secret expires, you’ll need to create a new one and re-authenticate the integration in GoFundMe Pro to ensure no integration down-time.
After adding a description and choosing a time-frame, select Add.
Important: Once the secret is created, a value will be revealed and immediately encrypted on page refresh. Copy the value immediately and paste it into the Client Secret field within GoFundMe Pro.
Submit form in GoFundMe Pro
At this point, you’ll have all the required fields completed in GoFundMe Pro. Select Submit to connect your GoFundMe Pro and Dynamics accounts.
Now, your setup in GoFundMe Pro is complete! The rest of this article covers how to set up Dynamics to ensure data flows as expected.
Create application user
To manage the security roles set on an app registration, you’ll need to create an application user.
Note: To create an application user, you need access to the Power Platform Admin Center.
- Log into Power Platform Admin Center
- In the menu, select Environments
- Select the environment in which you’d like to create the application user
- In the Access card and under Users, select See All

- Go to + App and choose the app registration from the previous step
- Business unit – select the business unit the app user should be applied to
- Security roles - assign the System Admin role
Add application user to Fundraising & Engagement
To allow GoFundMe Pro to create records via Microsoft’s web API, add the application user to Fundraising & Engagement.
- In Dynamic’s Fundraising & Engagement app, select Configuration
- Select an active configuration to add the app user to
- Select the Related tab and Users
- Select Add Existing User to add the app user associated with the app registration
- Search for and select the newly created user.
