Manage text-to-donate
Text-to-Donate lets you share a phone number and keyword with your supporters to quickly access a donation page on their phones.
When supporters text your unique campaign code to Live Events' text-to-donate phone number, they'll receive a link to your Live Events donation page.
Set up Text-to-Donate
To use text-to-donate at your Live event, ensure it is turned on in your event details.
Once turned on for your event, create a unique campaign code in your Text-to-Donate settings:
- In the menu, select Text-to-Donate
- Select the Settings tab
- Create a Campaign Code keyword
Your campaign code should be short, simple, and unique to your event. It must contain only lowercase letters and numbers. Also, try to use something that a phone's autocorrect won't change.
- Customize your donation page’s title, instructions, background image, donation amounts, and reply message
For the best quality background image, use a 1280 x 720 px image less than 2 MB and a PNG or JPEG file.
Supporter experience
When supporters text your unique campaign code to Live Events' text-to-donate number, they'll receive a link to your Live Events donation page.
From there, supporters can enter their donation amount and card information. When they are entering their information, attendees can choose to donate anonymously. This choice will only apply to the individual donation. Additionally, attendees who have logged into the event on their phone and added a payment method can select it for easier checkout.
Important: The donation page link is unique to the supporter and cannot be shared with other attendees.
If you’d like to share a QR code at your event, we recommend creating a QR code for the phone number with your keyword pre-entered or using your connected GoFundMe Pro campaign’s Donation page. You can use a QR code builder to create the code for your keyword or page.
Text-to-Donate transactions
Text-to-donate transactions sync back to GoFundMe Pro, which can be found in your Transactions History. You can also find them within Live Events by selecting Text-to-Donate and the Manage tab.
All phone numbers who texted your keyword, including those who did not complete their donation, will appear under the Manage tab. For completed donations, you'll find the name, email address, and a copy of their receipt.

What's the difference between text-to-donate and text-to-give?
Text-to-give lets supporters text an amount to a number and automatically donate it by adding it to their phone bill. Text-to-donate lets supporters text a code to a specific number where they can access a donation page and complete their donation. One benefit of text-to-donate is gathering more information, like name and email address. This allows you to nurture that relationship for the future.
What payment methods are available for text-to-donate?
Right now, only credit or debit cards.
Autocorrect continues to change the campaign code keyword. What can I do?
If the autocorrect on mobile devices continues to change the campaign code keyword, try adding numbers before the keyword. Example: 123GoFundMe
Can I use text-to-donate on my GoFundMe Pro campaign?
Text-to-Donate is only available on Live events. But those donations will sync back to GoFundMe Pro if you are a GoFundMe Pay customer.
Can I use a GoFundMe Pro donation page instead of the Live Events donation page for text-to-donate?
No, you need to use a Live Events donation page with text-to-donate.
