December 10, 2024 release highlights

Meta integration for Instagram and Facebook sharing

Classy from GoFundMe introduced the first nonprofit Meta integration of its kind to take social sharing to a whole new level. Supporters can spread the word by sharing your donation pages and crowdfunding campaigns on Instagram—and now, Facebook! Each option guides users to your Classy-powered campaign where they can make a donation.

  • The enhanced social sharing experience now supports one-click sharing to the Facebook feed for mobile devices, featuring dynamic posts for your Classy-powered donation and crowdfunding pages
  • New and duplicated Studio campaigns will default the Meta feature to “on,” and the progress bars will default to “off”
  • Update checkout process to improve tracking for the Meta integration on iOS devices, including c_src field values of ‘meta-instagram’ and ‘meta-facebook’ for Instagram and Facebook donations made through the integration
  • To help optimize our customers' campaigns across channels, we will begin auto-activating the new Meta integration (with fundraising totals turned off) for eligible campaigns from organizations with an active integration

Embedded Studio beta updates

Embedded donation forms are the recommended solution for accepting donations directly through your organization's website. Our new embedded forms enable you to create fast, simple, and uniquely branded donor experiences, helping you convert more visitors into supporters. Here are the latest updates to Embedded Studio since its recent beta release:

  • Introduced the ability to update share link options on the thank-you page
  • Added the capability to update or remove images for your organization’s theme logo, partner logos, and content panel
  • Resolved an issue to ensure payment method radio buttons function correctly
  • Resolved an issue that incorrectly displayed the option for donor covered fees option

Campaign Insights

Classy Manager

  • We revamped the Payment Portal within Classy Manager to improve the user experience and unify the activation workflows for Stripe and PayPal
  • Resolved an issue impacting SSO users attempting to access the Payment Portal
  • Resolved a display issue in the Payment Portal affecting Canadian organizations
  • Updated the PDF receipt for Giving Cart campaigns to include “Donated by,” “Donor address,” and “Federal tax ID”
  • Resolved two issues to enhance the user experience within the Apps & Integrations section
  • Resolved an issue ensuring updates to an attendee’s “First Name,” “Last Name,” and “Email Address” in Classy Manager now sync correctly with the attendee record in Classy Live

Embedded Studio in beta

Embedded donation forms are the recommended solution for giving from your organization's website. Now available on our modern Studio platform, our new embedded forms let you create donor experiences that are fast, simple, and uniquely yours – so you can turn more visitors into supporters. Here's a highlight of some of the latest updates with this Embedded Studio release:

November 6, 2024 release highlights

Classy Studio: Passport

Appeal to international audiences with Studio Passport. Supporters visiting your Studio campaign page will now see donation and impact amounts automatically converted to their local currency, simplifying the giving process.

With this release, it's important to know that:

  • Site visitors may change the currency by using the dropdown in the page header.
  • Transactions will continue to settle in USD. 

Campaign Insights phase 1

With Campaign Insights, you can get an overview of a Classy campaign’s performance, including:

  • Transactions and fee coverage
  • Total amount raised by time
  • One-time vs. recurring donations
  • Performance metrics

Understanding these metrics helps you see how your campaigns are performing and how pages are converting.

Classy Live

Group registration generally available 

Classy Live's group registration management empowers ticket purchasers to easily update details for all attendees in their order, including names, emails, phone numbers, and custom questions. This feature is now available to all organizations using Classy Live.

Additionally, admins can opt to receive notifications when a group’s tickets are assigned, unassigned, or edited.

Donor covered fees generally available

Donor covered fees on Classy Live allow attendees to cover transaction fees at checkout and in text-to-donate forms. When enabled, an option appears in the attendee’s cart, donation form, and invoice, giving them the choice to opt in and take on the transaction costs. 

Add offline attendees

Attendee management is now more streamlined with offline attendee syncing. Admins can easily create offline attendees linked to tickets by using the 'Attendees' tab and the 'Add' button.

What to know:
The ‘Add Offline’ modal allows admins to select a ticket type, create an attendee for that ticket, and sync the details to Classy.

Features

  • Updated terms and service in the footer of recurring email receipts.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed issue wherein amounts on the Donation Form were being rounded instead of displaying the amount the campaign admin specified.
  • Fixed issue where the footer of PDF receipt for Studio transactions broke to a second page.
  • Fixed issue where the “View Campaign” button in eCard emails defaulted to admin URL instead of public URL.
  • Fixed issue in the “Comment on campaign activity” email where the “View Page” button redirected to the supporter page instead of the campaign page URL.

Data Intelligence and Analytics

Features

  • Removed timestamp from the “Payout Created Date” column in the export file of the Transaction History report to align with UI.
  • Added “UTC” label to the “Payout Created Date” column of the Transaction History Report UI
  • Removed the deprecated Birthdate column from all reports.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed issue where "created_at" and "updated_at" dates were identical.
  • Fixed issue where campaign progress bar was not automatically recalculated when an offline registration was adjusted.
  • Fixed issue where exporting payout created and deposit date columns in the Transaction History report displayed a day behind.
  • Fixed issue where Payout ID, Payout Deposit Date, and Payout Create Date were missing if a payout had been generated in the last 2-3 days.
  • Fixed issue where the ‘Birth date' preset custom question exported responses 1 day off based on an organization’s time zone settings.
  • Fixed issue where results were sorted incorrectly when searching by email addresses.
  • Fixed issue where the “Unsuccessful” status filter failed to return expected results.
  • Fixed issue where "Join a Team" modal displayed gross amount instead of intended.
  • Fixed date discrepancy that appeared in 'Payout' report confirmation modal.
  • Fixed issue where the "Is Equal To" and "Is Not Equal To" operators failed to work as expected when used with the "Last Decline" filter.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed an issue where the 'Resume' date was not displaying the correct date
  • Statuses for reprocessing failed transactions are now more descriptive:
    • On clicking "Reprocess" button for unsuccessful transaction under activity tab, "Reprocess attempt is in progress. Please wait a moment, then refresh for transaction status.” toast message should be displayed.
    • When reprocess is successful - display toast “Reprocess attempt was successful.”
    • When reprocess is unsuccessful - display toast “Reprocess attempt was unsuccessful.”
    • If still processing after a minute - display toast “Reprocess attempt is in progress. Please wait a moment, then refresh for transaction status.”

Developer Studio

Features

  • Updated the developer portal request access form.
  • Added more details to Classy API docs to make it easier for developers to fetch aggregate donation amounts for fundraising pages at the organization and campaign levels.
  • Made it easier to navigate Classy API docs by adding expand/contract pull bars to the page.
  • Updated product information link in Mittun partner app.

Bug fixes

  • Resolved an authorization issue that occurred when submitting the partner app "Contact Us" form.
  • Fixed an issue where the wrong error message was displayed to users who don't have "Apps & Integrations" permissions.
  • Improved the "Active Apps" page to load all apps at the same time.

Classy Live

Features

  • The existing Supporter Display now includes an option to showcase the ‘Total Raised’. This enhancement allows events to highlight their supporters and total amount all within one display.  
  • We revised the "No Access" page language, adding a log-out button, and a debugging option to provide easier resolution when encountering access issues.

October 17, 2024 Release Highlights

Data Intelligence and Analytics: Reporting

We continue updating reporting filters to improve ease of use and provide a better user experience. Our latest update includes the introduction of an “Or” operator in advanced filters.

  • If "Or" is selected, the report's results will reflect some of the filters being applied, but not all.
  • If "And" is selected, the report's results will reflect all of the filters being applied.

Engagement: Studio emails

  • Merge tags in email subject lines are now supporter in Studio emails to encourage more dynamic content and personalization.

Classy Live

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where the ‘Assign Table/Seat’ data was erased when admins edited it from the check-in modal.
  • Fixed an issue where the import template downloaded from events wouldn’t open in standard spreadsheet applications.
  • Fixed an issue where attendee names edited in Classy Manager overwrote records synced to Classy Live.
  • Fixed an issue where auction displays didn’t update transactions in real-time.
  • Fixed an issue where attendees setting a max bid after bidding closed was recorded in auction item activity.
  • Fixed an issue where the final bid was included in the ‘Committed’ amount when the ‘Reserve Price’ was not met.

Features

  • In the Transaction History report, we removed the “UTC” text from the “Payout Created Date” column since no timestamp value is being populated.
  • Now, we automatically combine PayPal payout reports when sent separate files during periods of high transaction volume.
  • In the Fundraising Page report, we have added 'Archived' as an available status to CSV export file.
  • We now ensure all possible filter values display when an admin selects "Is Equal To" as an operator within advanced filters.
  • Embedded Studio has been added as a campaign type filter to allow admins to efficiently organize and locate these specific campaigns.
  • We have updated text filter labels to more intuitively match their campaign types.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where an inaccurate count of campaigns per question was returned when unchecking 'group by campaign'.
  • Fixed an issue where custom questions failed to populate for admins after they modified the saved report by selecting Columns → Custom Questions.
  • Fixed an issue where a net amount discrepancy would be caused by chargeback/chargeback reversal.

Engagement

Features

  • Footed text updates have been made for recurring email receipts to align with Classy's Terms of Services and Privacy Notice.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where the FRS version of the "Recurring donation email changed" email template was sent when a Studio recurring giving plan had been updated.
  • Fixed an issue where gross donation amount displayed for "Donation made to fundraising page" and Donation made to team fundraising page" emails instead of intended donation amount.
  • Fixed an issue where currency displayed in email and PDF receipts were determined by billing address instead of the currency the supporter had selected.

Classy Live

Features

  • Expanded data sync to enable event specific transaction data.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue that prevented admins from being able to change the 'Item Type' from "Silent" to "Fixed Price" if there was already bid history.
  • Fixed issue where the "Amount" input field would autofill too quickly when editing or creating auction items, causing formatting errors.
  • Fixed an issue where paid-for paddle raise donations were able to get deleted.
  • Fixed an issue that caused an error message when adding an "Attendee" as a "Speaker".
  • Fixed issue with bidder numbers being assigned to attendees, despite setting to leave them blank.
  • Fixed issue with billing address state field saved as full text instead of abbreviation for attendee-added cards, resolving downstream issues with data formatting.
  • Fixed an issue preventing admins from being able to send SMS messages to attendees if they had no email address.

October 1, 2024 Release Highlights

Classy Studio

  • Activity Feeds are now available for Classy Studio campaigns. Users can drag and drop Activity Feeds into new and existing Classy campaigns, edit the “Comment” and “Show More” buttons, and enable/disable commenting and likes on feed items.
  • Native Tealium support has been added to Studio! You can now add Tealium to your Studio campaigns by reaching out to Classy’s Care Team and providing your account and profile IDs. Once added, Studio pages will automatically send supported events and data to your Tealium container.
  • We’ve improved and updated our Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager implementations to include more information, including Giving Cart campaigns.
    • What to know: a JSON import for Google Tag Manager will be provided to configure the new variables and triggers.
  • [Checkout] We have improved the messaging to supporters when their credit cards are declined to help reduce transaction-related calls to organizations. 

Classy Manager

  • The Apps & Integrations section within Classy Manager has been redesigned to enable customers to easily discover, explore, and connect to native and partner-built apps. This catalog provides a marketplace-like experience where customers can onboard partner-built solutions by easily sending a message within Classy Manager, and mark apps as active for streamlined management.

Campaign Management

  • We’re streamlining the donation process by introducing a new “Donate as organization” option in all Studio campaigns. This update will capture the organization name directly during checkout, removing the need for the “Company / Organization” custom question. Admins can easily enable this feature, ensuring a smoother, more efficient experience for both donors and organizations.
    • What to know: If your organization has the “Company / Organization” custom question toggled on, we will disable it and automatically enable the “Donate as organization” feature for you. 

Fundraising and Donor Management

  • With the enhanced transaction record UI, we are providing the ability to make offline registrations editable, similar to how offline donations are editable. This means an organization can edit and update offline registration payment information, for use cases such as pledging, when payment is received.

Classy Live

  • Admins may now create a new display type to showcase their auction items during onsite events. This display rotates through an animated carousel of items, showing activity and the current highest bids items. This new display increases visibility and exposure to the auction experience, driving engagement and participation throughout the event.

September 10, 2024 Release Highlights

Classy Manager: FRS Campaigns

Campaign redirects are available! Any supporter who accesses an unpublished campaign’s URL will be sent to your organization’s website instead of a Classy 404 branded page, creating a better and more streamlined supporter experience. Admins will also have the option of setting up campaign redirects by adding a redirect URL to a location of their choosing, whether it’s a different website or a newly created Studio campaign.

  • To set up a redirect link outside of your organization's website, you can do so from your campaign via the Details tab > About section > Redirect URL.

Data Intelligence and Analytics: Reporting

Organizations can now search for words in a text string with three new options available in advanced filters. These options empower admins to quickly find the results they need with: 

  • Contains
  • Begins with
  • Ends with

Classy Live: Supporter Auction Display

Supporter recognition is now easier with our all-new Support Auction Display. On Classy Live, admins can now access this to provide a visually engaging, automated scrolling list of supporter names that can be featured during events.

August 15, 2023 Release Highlights

Classy Live

Credit Card Tokenization: Generally Available

To streamline making a donation or bidding during an event, we’re offering Credit Card Tokenization, which allows attendees to use the same credit card they provided during registration to save on file for day-of events. This provides a seamless and streamlined attendee experience when participating in an auction or making a donation and helps organizations maximize revenue opportunities during events. 

Bid Anonymously

To enable event attendees to place bids and purchase auction items without disclosing their identities, we’re launching a ‘Bid Anonymously’ option. This aims to increase bid activity, enhance user satisfaction, and maximize fundraising efforts by adhering to the privacy preferences of a wider audience. To provide flexibility:

  • Attendees can opt for anonymity before placing bids.
  • Attendees have the flexibility to enable or disable anonymous bidding at any time.

Event Button Customization

To create more personalized experiences for attendees, admins can now modify the button text on their Event Page. This helps admins customize the text and gives them visibility of the "Enter Event" and "Register for Event" buttons on their Event Page. With this new enhancement:

  • Admins can modify the button text to create a more personalized experience for event attendees.
  • Admins can choose to hide the login or register buttons on their Event Page.

Studio

3D Secure Authentication

To protect online card transactions for Classy Pay clients, we’re launching 3D Secure Authentication (aka 3DS) as a part of up-leveled security. This feature, when required, will prompt the cardholder to authenticate via a password or code sent to their phone.

Builder Layouts

To provide more flexibility, we’re launching a new smaller layout option for all layout blocks. This smaller block size allows for more compact layout designs and is ideal for various purposes, such as creating headlines across multiple sections.

Giving Cart

To create consistent experiences between Giving Cart and non-Giving Cart campaigns, we’ve updated the “Donate Now” call to action to “Donate [amount]/[frequency].” This update provides clarity to supporters when confirming their donation. 

Data Intelligence and Analytics

Reporting Updates

To streamline reporting and provide a better user experience, we’re offering consolidated, enhanced report filters. This means report filters now include:

  • A date range with the “All Filters” modal
  • Automatic adjustment of column widths based on the content length within the cell
  • New sorting icons at the top of all report columns

Activity Feed Bug Fix

We’ve fixed an issue where the Activity Feed would display an error when first logging in to Classy Manager.

Classy Live

Features

  • Now, attendees with unpaid or active bids in their cart cannot be deleted. If an Admin attempts to delete such an attendee, a tooltip warning message will advise them to first remove unpaid or active bids before proceeding with deletion.
  • When editing the Fair Market Value on an auction item, the "Show custom text" option is now only editable when the "Show Fair Market Value" is enabled and turned on. 

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where Purchase Notes did not wrap in the invoice, causing page overflow that disrupted the invoice format.
  • Fixed an issue where no error message was displayed with the 'Buy Now Price' was set lower than the 'Reserve Price'.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented the 'External Bidder' field from updating to Attendee after merging the two records.
  • Fixed an issue that caused an error message to be displayed when attempting to view event recordings.
  • Fixed the event search functionality on the Organization > Events page where the search results did not always include all valid entries.

  • Fixed issue where campaign phone and email set at the campaign level failed to override  phone and email set at the org level.

  • Fixed issue where data failed to render for certain FRS campaign reports.
  • Fixed issue where admins would see BAD_USER_INPUT when trying to filter multiple values where Campaign Name “IS LIKE”.

  • Classy/GoFundMe's new Terms of Service and Privacy Policy have been added to FRS.
  • Implemented MOTO (Mail order, Telephone order) flag to all Virtual Terminal and Live API transactions, ensuring organizations will be able to continue to transact without needing CVV or CVC for credit card transactions

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where admins were not able to view all promo codes using the scroll bar.
  • Fixed an issue where certain settings on core Classy campaigns were not being reflected on the Virtual Terminal campaign.

July 24, 2024 Release Highlights

In order to make it easier to view account roles assigned to a user, administrators now have the ability to export Roles and Permissions via .CSV file to display all ‘Roles’ of a user.

To create consistency for administrators across experiences, dedications have been moved to their own section in the builder settings, and certain settings have been renamed and reorganized for a more intuitive experience.

Auctions

Admins now have enhanced customization options for displaying the Fair Market Value (FMV) on an auction item's webpage. This feature aims to better highlight the unique value of certain items to encourage higher bids.

For a specific auction item, the default setting remains unchanged (i.e., displaying the FMV and the FMV dollar amount). However, administrators now have the following options:

  • Choose whether to display the Fair Market Value on the event's auction item webpage.
  • Show custom text in the Fair Market Value field on the webpage instead of the actual FMV amount.

Standard, Embedded, and Studio Experiences

Privacy

To uphold legally compliant data privacy practices and provide more transparent donor experiences, supporters will need to click a final confirmation call-to-action when submitting their donation, including when they leverage digital wallets. For Embedded experiences, this means a new confirmation screen has been added to the end of the experience that includes a donation summary and required privacy language. 

In addition, both Classy's and an organization's privacy statements have been added to all checkout flows. In Checkout, we have also replaced the "Terms | Classy Privacy Policy" with "Powered by Classy, a GoFundMe company" above the "Donate Now" button. 

Required action: Please provide a link to your Privacy Policy via your Account Settings.

Microsoft Dynamics: Generally Available

Organizations using Microsoft Dynamics CRM can now leverage our native integration to sync relevant fundraising data to garner actionable insights and improved stewardship strategies.
