Troubleshoot the Salesforce base (NPSP) integration

Note : GoFundMe Pro was previously known as Classy, so that name may still appear in custom objects, fields, and labels in Salesforce.

Our team is here to help troubleshoot any technical issues you might experience regarding your GoFundMe Pro data flowing to your Salesforce instance. However, we cannot assist with custom architecture or consult on best practices. For these questions, we recommend hiring a Salesforce consultant.

Turn on the Salesforce integration

If you are new to the Salesforce base (NPSP) integration, you should first confirm that the integration with Salesforce is active in GoFundMe Pro.

To access the Salesforce integration:

  1. In your GoFundMe Pro account, select Apps & Integrations
  2. Select Salesforce base (NPSP compatible)

Have trouble with installation?

If you have this integration as part of your subscription, but the Salesforce integration is locked, please reach out to our care team.

Integration incomplete?

If your Salesforce base integration isn't connected, it means you haven't completed one of the steps needed to turn it on. For example, you may need to activate your API Key.

Select the integration and complete the steps to turn on the Salesforce integration.

Integration won’t load?

If your integration won’t load successfully, or the screen is blinking, the Salesforce profile connected to GoFundMe Pro may not have the right permissions to access the integration. You need to disable the extension and re-enable it with the default System Administrator user profile to ensure you have the needed permissions.

Do you have administrator access in Salesforce?

If you are trying to use the integration, make sure your Salesforce profile is the default System Administrator. When you set up the integration, you have the option to install for multiple users if you want to give your organization wider access to the Salesforce integration. Learn more about the Salesforce integration setup.

Need to change the administrator for your organization?

If you need to change the administrator for the integration, disable the extension and re-enable with the new user profile. Learn how to switch accounts.

Check settings and permissions

If GoFundMe Pro data is not flowing into Salesforce as expected or you have trouble accessing the integration, check your settings and permissions.

Settings

Use the Salesforce base (NPSP) integration settings to turn on features like Enhanced Contact Matching and Custom Field Mapping. Also, you can control how the integration organizes individual and team fundraisers.

Learn more about the Salesforce integration settings.

Tip: Turn on debugging to learn more about log errors

Go to the Control Panel V2 > Settings > Package > toggle on Enable Debugging with GoFundMe Pro Log.

Permissions

The Salesforce base integration comes with several custom objects that your profile will need to have permission to access and use. If you do not have access, contact your organization’s Salesforce administrator to adjust your profile settings.

Tip: When installing the Salesforce integration, you can install for All or Specific Profiles to give more people access to the integration in Salesforce.

Missing Data

Once activated, the Salesforce base integration syncs data automatically. However, you may be missing historical data from before you turned on the integration, or you are missing data because of failed API requests. To fill these gaps, use our Data Sync Tool and investigate the API request error logs.

Learn more about syncing missing data.

Switching accounts or users

If you need to change users for the integration or need to switch from a Sandbox to Production, you need to first disable the integration from Apps & Integrations in GoFundMe Pro and re-enable the integration.

Turn off the integration

  1. In GoFundMe Pro, select Apps & Integrations
  2. Select Salesforce
  3. Select Disable Extension

Note: If you want to uninstall the integration from your Salesforce instance completely, please follow these instructions for uninstalling a package.

Connect a new account

Now that you have turned off the integration, you’ll simply need to repeat the setup process. The new user will be the Salesforce account you log in to during the setup process.
